As localization professionals, we often find ourselves asking: What’s next in my career? While our work connects with every business unit: product, marketing, support, legal, and more. Traditional growth paths aren’t always clearly defined. This Client SIG session dives into how we can build meaningful careers in localization and beyond.

💡 What to Expect:
âœ” A look at the evolving identity of localization professionals: Does the "localization” title still serve us in today’s business climate?
âœ” Real client-side challenges: How do we grow when we don’t “belong” to a traditional function like engineering or finance?
âœ” A live conversation with Gonzalo Delgado, who joined Booking.com four years ago, bringing a fresh perspective on early career development in localization.
âœ” Open discussion about our own experiences and the different companies’ approach for their localization teams development.
âœ” Discussion on how individuals can take ownership of their professional growth in a fast-changing industry.

🧭 Key Takeaways:
âœ… Recognize blockers and opportunities for career growth in localization
âœ… Learn how others have built bridges to different functions (PM, ops, tech, etc.)
âœ… Get inspired to take the lead in shaping your next chapter
âœ… Leave with at least 3 tangible actions to invest in your development, regardless of title

Let’s explore together how to futureproof our careers in a function that’s constantly evolving.

Agnes Schöndorni-Schönner, GoTo Technologies Germany GmbH

Fuelled by a passion for connecting people and products across languages and cultures, Agnes thrives where technology and creativity intersect. With over a decade at GoTo (former LogMeIn), she started as a localization leader at a fast-growing startup and helped scale global efforts across UI, marketing, and documentation. Her role has evolved alongside the company, taking her across borders and into a global team where she now oversees web and marketing localization, with a focus on international SEO and driving major tech initiatives.

Prior to GoTo, Agnes honed her expertise with 10 years on the LSP front, mastering the entire localization cycle – marketing translations, editing, project management, vendor management, and terminology. This extensive foundation helps her shape a holistic view on how people and technology work together.

GALA's Client Special Interest Group is restricted to professionals from enterprise globalization teams. GALA continues to produce other SIGs, events and content each year to serve the entire GALA membership, but this particular group is designed for an under-served segment of our membership: those from "buyer-side" companies, to provide them with a safe space for open discussion and learning without the presence of vendors.
