SUNDAY

Pre-conference City Sightseeing Tour

Sunday, 12 April | 09:00-17:00 | US$ 150

Brandenburg Gate

What makes Berlin so special? Why does Berlin look the way it does?

It is impossible to sum up the essence of the city in one sentence. Berlin doesn’t have a cohesive urban landscape like most other cities, and every district will surprise you with different details. The city is full of contradictions such as provincialism and glamour, history, and trendsetting, curry-wurst stands and Michelin-starred restaurants, green areas and industrial buildings, museums and street art.

Spree River View

Berlin is marked by a stormy history as a city once-divided by The Berlin Wall. Yet, it is hip, inspiring, and multi-cultural. Besides the usual facts and landmarks such as the TV tower and the Brandenburg gate, Potsdamer Platz (Potsdam Place), Checkpoint Charlie, Friedrichstrasse (Friederich's Street), Nikolaiviertel (Nicolas' Quarter), Alexanderplatz (Alexander's Plaza) and Fernsehturm (the TV tower), the professional and dedicated guides from Nordic Travel Incoming Group will show you how to approach Berlin within a couple of hours, but that is just the start….

You will be treated to brunch at Die Eierschale Dahlen (The Eggshell Restaurant), a charming and historic villa located in Berlin’s leafy Dahlem district. Known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful garden, it’s a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. The venue offers a rich brunch buffet, live music on Sundays, and a menu that blends traditional German cuisine with modern touches.

WEDNESDAY

Post-conference Potsdam Excursion

Wednesday, 15 April | 08:30-16:30 | US$ 165

Castle

The former royal German capital of Potsdam is located within the metropolitan of Berlin. There are altogether 12 castles in the Potsdam area. The most famous one is The Baroque Palace Sanssouci, which served as the summer residence of Friedrich the Great in the 17th century. The Charlottenhof Palace, built for Fredrik William IV and his family forms an architectural center of the Sanssouci Park. Since 1990, this unique Potsdam Palace district is designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. The Potsdam Agreement adopted in 1945 at Cecilienhof Palace by the “Big Three” – the American president Harry S. Truman, the British prime minister Winston Churchill (followed by his successor Clement Attlee), and the Soviet head of state Joseph Stalin - laid the groundwork for a new order in Germany, Europe, and the world after the end of World War II.

The tour will begin with a ninety-minute river cruise which will take you past the most beautiful sights along the Spree River. From Babelsberg Park, with its palace, the Flatow Tower, and the casino in Glienicke Park, the boat passes under the historic Glienicke Bridge and onto Jungfernsee. Palaces and gardens stretch along the former border between East and West on both sides of the Havel River. Prussian kings and famous architects created this UNESCO World Heritage landscape. While the ship is still heading towards the Sacrower Heilandskirche Church, the fairytale-like castle on Peacock Island comes into view behind an isthmus. Another highlight of the cruise is the New Garden, with its marble palace and Cecilienhof Palace, where history was made with the signing of the Potsdam Agreement in the summer of 1945.

Following the River Cruise, you will be take to the Potsdam City Center for 90 minutes of shopping and lunch on your own.

[Please note: Lunch is NOT included with this tour, you may purchase from one of the many restaurant options on your own.]

Sanssouci Castle

Last on your itinerary is a guided tour of the Sanssouci Palace Castle and Garden. No other palace is as closely associated with the personality of Frederick the Great as Sanssouci Palace. The name Sanssouci - meaning "without a care in the world" - is to be understood as the king's wish and leitmotif (recurrent theme), as this is where he preferred to retreat with his dogs. His summer residence was ultimately his favorite place and an important refuge in difficult times.

Sanssouci Garden

The location of the palace on the famous vineyard terraces and the original 18th century furnishings of each room allow visitors today to immerse themselves in the world of the “Philosopher of Sanssouci”. The rooms are characterized by elegance and stylish splendor. They also give a clear sense of the king's love for the magnificent surroundings, the “Prussian Arcadia”.

This tour will be facilitated by bus from the Titanic Chaussee Berlin Hotel and by river cruise by boat, departing from, and returning to, the Titanic Chaussee Hotel Berlin.
