Held from May 29 to May 31 in Marrakech, Morocco, GITEX Africa 2024 is a cutting-edge technology exhibition organized by Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and hosted by the Digital Development Agency (ADD), with sponsorships from UAE institutions. The exhibition features 1,400 exhibitors showcasing innovations in AI, cybersecurity, fintech, blockchain, and more, and is recognized as a premier ICT exhibition in Africa, fostering public-private partnerships and active business meetings.

At the event, Flitto is showcasing its AI translation solutions powered by its proprietary AI translation and speech-to-text (STT) engines. Visitors can experience the accuracy and speed of Flitto’s “Chat Translation,” for one-on-one conversational use, as well as “Live Translation,” tailored for seminars and conferences.

Additionally, Flitto is also demonstrating its expertise in building high-quality language data, essential for training AI engines. Leveraging its integrated platform with 14 million global users, Flitto provides high-quality, copyright issue-free data including multilingual parallel corpora, speech data, OCR image data, and multi-turn conversational data, highlighting the potential for customized data supply tailored to the needs of AI-related institutions in the region.

On the opening day, May 29, Flitto signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Canine Safaris Ltd., a Ugandan startup, to begin collaboration on building translation services for safari tours. The collaboration focuses on several key areas: (1) Technical testing collaboration for the implementation of Safari Tour's real-time interpretation solution; (2) Operational collaboration to enhance user convenience following the introduction of Safari Tours; and (3) Collaborative process for building specialized multilingual datasets for Safari Tours.

Furthermore, Flitto CEO Simon Lee was invited to deliver a keynote presentation at the “AI Everything” special conference track on May 29, the opening day of the event. His talk, titled “The Importance of Data in AI: Who Will Be the Winner of the AI War?” emphasized the importance of data in the AI ecosystem. On May 30, Flitto advanced to the semifinals of the innovation pitch competition “Supernova Challenge,” providing the AI data solution provider with an opportunity to showcase its innovations to global investors.

Looking ahead, Flitto plans to actively supply customized data to the rapidly digitalizing African market, focusing on the need to build AI language datasets for the diverse set of languages spoken in the region, including but not limited to Arabic, Swahili, and Amharic.

“We are delighted to be a part of the companies that represent South Korea at GITEX Africa 2024, the region’s largest ICT technology exhibition,” said Flitto CEO Simon Lee. “Through business meetings with diverse institutions and companies leading the African market, we aim to establish a strong foothold for expanding into the African market.”
