Inclusivity in Indian Languages: What Foreign Businesses Must Know

India is home to over 19,500 languages and dialects, yet only a few dominate the digital, corporate & policy landscape. In this session, Shrushti Chhapia (eLanguageWorld) will dive into how language intersects with gender, caste, and accessibility in India, and what that means for businesses looking to grow in this dynamic market. From digital exclusion to inclusive tech and real-world case studies, this talk offers an essential lens for localization, product design, and brand communication.

Note: SIG meetings are not recorded, so please feel free to join the live meeting for however long your schedule allows.

About the Inclusive Language SIG

The Inclusive Language SIG explores developing linguistic considerations relating to inclusivity, belonging, and accessibility. The group explores different themes, including implementing inclusive and accessible language initiatives, updates to terminology, and global linguistic developments.

The group is moderated by Serge Ansar (International Baccalaureate), Amanda Hawthorne (Electronic Arts), Bettiana Quiroga (Eriksen Translations Inc), and Liza Dziahel (Alconost).

GALA Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are global communities that connect members on topics of mutual interest led by volunteer moderators.
