GALA 2023 Conference Student Volunteers
Apply to be a volunteer at GALA 2023 Dublin! Conference volunteers help GALA staff host one of the most popular, informational, and well-loved events for the language industry: GALA's annual conference.
Applications are open to students currently enrolled in translation, localization, internationalization, linguistic, and interpreting programs. Ten (10) students will be selected to join GALA in Dublin 12-15 March 2023.

What do conference volunteers do?
- Registration and check-in assistance
- Session room monitoring (preferred sessions noted but not guaranteed)
- Registration set-up and break-down
- Customer service
- Tasks as requested by GALA staff
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an academic program. All eligible student applications will be entered into a random drawing.
To apply to be a student volunteer:
- Log in to your GALA user account. If you do not have a GALA account, create one using your school email address.
- Click the button to apply, this will open the application form.
- Complete and save the application form by 27 January 2023.
After the deadline, GALA staff will review all the applications for eligibility. All eligible applications will be entered into a random drawing. Selected applicants will have one week to confirm acceptance of the position.
You will need the following materials to apply:
- Curriculum vitae
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty or staff member at your current program
- Proof of Enrollment that proves you are currently enrolled in an academic program; examples: an unofficial transcript or a signed note from university staff on official letterhead
Volunteer Eligibility:
- This opportunity is open to first-time GALA conference volunteers.
- You do not need to be a GALA member to apply.
- Student volunteers must be currently enrolled in an academic program focusing on translation, localization, internationalization, linguistic, and interpreting programs.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Volunteers work one full day and one half day in exchange for regular conference attendance the other 1.5 days. All volunteers are required to attend a virtual training in early March and an onsite training.
- Sunday 12 March: onsite training & final scheduling (afternoon; mandatory for all volunteers)
- Sunday 12 March: half day (afternoon/evening)
- Monday 13 March: full day
- Tuesday 14 March: full day
- Wednesday 15 March: half day (morning)
Please note:
- Volunteers will receive a ticket to enjoy GALA's Monday night dinner.
- GALA does not provide any accommodation or travel assistance; you may indicate if you are interested in shared accommodations with other volunteers on the application form.
- Meals for main conference days include morning snack break, lunch, afternoon snack break, and Monday night dinner.
