In your view, what is the primary function and purpose of GALA? How can the association have a positive impact on its members?
I see GALA's primary purpose as building a collaborative and inclusive global community for professionals in the language industry. By providing valuable resources, fostering connections, and driving conversations around innovation, GALA equips its members to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving field.
The association creates a positive impact by offering access to thought leadership, industry trends, and professional development opportunities that empower members to grow and thrive. Through its events, webinars, and knowledge-sharing platforms, GALA encourages collaboration and the exchange of ideas that help address shared challenges.
For me, GALA’s strength lies in its ability to bring together diverse voices and perspectives. By championing inclusion and accessibility, GALA inspires its members to embrace the cultural and linguistic diversity that defines our industry. It’s this collaborative spirit that positions GALA as a driving force in shaping the future of language services.
How have you engaged with GALA as a member?
Yes, I have been an Interpreting & Technologies SIG Moderator for 3+ years and moderated or paneled on various webinars in the same timeframe. In 2024, I also served on the Montreal Conference Program Committee
Why would you make a good GALA board member? What will you bring to the table?
I bring over 15 years of experience in diverse LSP service roles, including Project Manager and strategic services Leader, where I’ve built service offerings from the ground up. My extensive volunteer work with GALA, including contributions to the growth of the Interpreting SIG, reflects my commitment to the industry. Additionally, my expertise in Accessibility and my active advocacy on both globalization and accessibility fronts bring a unique, multidisciplinary perspective to GALA's mission.
Which segment(s) of GALA's membership do you represent? What perspective will you bring?
I represent the Language Services segment, specializing in Interpreting, Technology, and Accessibility. As a CPACC-certified Accessibility expert, I bring visibility in Accessibility Solutions. My focus on language access and inclusive communication allows me to advocate for innovation, inclusion, and accessibility within the global language and accessibility industries.
