Women in Localization Publishes 2024 Impact Report
SUNNYVALE, California, USA — August 18, 2025. Women in Localization (W.L.), the leading professional organization for women in the localization industry, has released its 2024 Impact Report. The report reflects a year of growth, innovation, and strengthened community ties across its global network.
In its second year of publication, the Women in Localization Impact Report provides transparency and serves as a record of how the organization is delivering on its mission to foster a global community for women in the localization industry, while also recognizing the contributions of members, volunteers, sponsors, and partners who make this work possible.
In 2024, Women in Localization welcomed 3,318 new members, bringing total membership to more than 14,000 across 30 chapters in 29 countries. Five new chapters — Switzerland, Brazil, Portugal, Madrid, and Türkiye — joined W.L.’s community, further expanding the organization’s global reach and impact.
Professional development, networking, and upskilling remain a priority, with W.L. hosting 95 online and in person events. Career-focused initiatives also expanded, with more than 150 jobs posted on the W.L. Job Board and the launch of The Talent Pool, a platform that connects members with employers seeking localization professionals.
The mentorship program saw significant growth, with 181 mentors and 522 mentees participating, reflecting increases of 110% and 150% respectively over 2023. Partnerships remained a priority, with 21 partner organizations collaborating on events, training, and resources, including a DEI website assessment in partnership with CSA Research.
“2024 was a year of meaningful momentum,” said Anna N. Schlegel, Co-Founder and 2024 President of Women in Localization. “Our members, volunteers, sponsors, and partners created more opportunities, stronger connections, and greater visibility for women across the localization industry. This report reflects our commitment to building an inclusive, supportive community where women can thrive.”
The 2024 Impact Report also looks ahead to W.L.’s 2025 goals, which include adding new chapters, launching special interest groups, hosting more advocacy and technology events, and introducing WeShape AI — a new initiative showcasing technology led by women at the intersection of AI, language, and global design.
