AI Use Cases SIG Meeting - March 2026
The first 2026 session of GALA's AI Use Cases SIG explores how prototyping is being upended across product, engineering, and content operations—shrinking the gap between idea and execution.
We’ll start with how AI can take rough inputs and reliably turn them into usable project descriptions, reducing friction at the very start of the life cycle and enabling teams to move faster with greater clarity. From there, we dive into rapid technical prototyping, showing how modern AI coding partners can transform minimal guidance into functional, demo-ready language technology prototypes in minutes—along with a candid look at where these tools shine and where human judgment still matters.
The focus then expands beyond individual prototypes, examining how AI increasingly replaces traditional handoffs by filling gaps between designers and developers, improving speed, fidelity, and ownership. Finally, we'll look at orchestrator-based approaches to multilingual content operations, demonstrating how coordinated AI systems can prototype not just tools, but entire workflows.
Together, these talks paint a practical picture of AI as a prototyping accelerator—across ideas, code, and operations alike.

Peter Argondizzo: "Set It and Forget It: How AI Writes Project Descriptions That Actually Work."
AI isn't just for translation, our Project Description Creator takes basic project data and turns it into a near-ready proposal description, showing how AI can make life easier across the whole organization.
Carlos Santiago: "From Idea to Prototype in Minutes with Cline"
This presentation explores how anyone can use Cline to rapidly prototype language technology solutions. We'll show how minimal input can result in a presentable prototype, and share what works well, what doesn't, and what are the limits of this AI code partner.
Dilyara Seitova: "The Death of Handoff - When AI Fills The Gaps"
Designing working interfaces with AI-assisted tools, rather than static prototypes, changes how work moves from design to development. Through a real example, this talk looks at what happens to handoff when iteration becomes much faster.

Peter Argondizzo, Argo Translations
Peter founded Argo Translation, originally based in Milwaukee, WI, in 1995. Prior to transferring his love of all things international and his savvy business expertise to Chicago's premier translation agency, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he graduated with a major in finance and human resource management. After graduation, he went on to become an Italian translator and project manager for an international medical equipment manufacturer and major airline.
Carlos Santiago, SAP
Carlos has been a software developer at LX Lab Brazil for six years. For most of this time, he worked on developing various Cloud Native products for SAP Language Platform. However, since 2025, his focus has shifted towards building AI agents that facilitate the work of translators and project managers.
Dilyara Seitova, Easyling
Dilyara Seitova is a UX designer at Easyling, a website translation and localization platform, where she designs features that help teams translate and maintain multilingual websites. In her daily work, she designs by building working interfaces rather than static prototypes, using AI-assisted tools to iterate quickly and explore ideas directly in code. Before moving into UX, she completed a PhD in psychology, which continues to inform how she approaches user behavior, decision-making, and product design.

Dr. Belén Agulló García, Terra
Belén is a multimedia localization professional with over a decade of experience in the localization industry in various roles in multiple companies, mainly language service providers, research and consultancy firms, and technology service providers. In her professional career, she has touched upon almost every role in the industry, including linguist, project manager, quality program manager, language technology deployment manager, researcher, educator, customer success manager, and vendor relationship manager and community builder, among others. This unique mix of experiences gave her a unique and deep understanding of the industry. In recent positions, she worked as AI Strategist and Innovator. Her focus has been to lead teams in devising and implementing long-term AI strategies, foster strategic partnerships, and define go-to-market strategies for AI services across key verticals. Her current role is Executive Consultant, Innovation at Terra, where she keeps bringing her passion for localization, processes, and language technology to customers around the world. With an academic foundation rooted in Translation and Interpreting Studies from the Universitat d'Alacant, an MA in Audiovisual Translation, and a Ph.D. in Language Interpretation and Translation from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, she has not only pursued knowledge but has also contributed to her field through a user-centered study on accessible subtitles in virtual reality content.
Olga Beregovaya, Smartling
Olga Beregovaya has over 25 years' experience in localization and language technology, with a particular focus on machine translation/other NLP applications development and deployment. She is currently driving the AI and strategy for Smartling. Olga is very active in the translation/localization industry; she is a frequent presenter at Localization World, AMTA, TAUS and GALA conferences. Olga is a former President of AMTA and a current Vice President and Technology Track sponsor of Women in Localization.
Marcus Danei, SAP

Xavier Maza is Chief Client Solutions Officer at iDISC, where he leads sales, customer service, and quoting operations for global language and technology projects. With over 30 years in translation and localization, he combines strategic vision with hands-on industry expertise. Xavier is focused on integrating AI-driven solutions into language services, bridging human talent and technology to deliver smarter, scalable, and secure communication. Passionate about team leadership and innovation, he closely follows developments in AI, machine translation, and cybersecurity. He speaks Catalan, Spanish, and English fluently, with working knowledge of Danish and Russian, and is an avid scuba diver.
Zalan Meggyesi, Easyling
Diplomat by training, solutions engineer by trade, and usually the person brought in when ideas need to become something real. I work at the intersection of language, systems, and automation, with a strong focus on rapid prototyping. Recently, that’s meant hands-on experimentation with AI as a prototyping accelerator: turning rough ideas into specs, specs into prototypes, and prototypes into decisions. In this SIG, I frame the discussion, surface practical questions, and help the group extract useful patterns from real experience, so we leave with clearer signals on how to leverage AI in our favor.

Technical Project Manager at Zoetis with expertise in machine translation evaluation, AI training and localization workflow automation. Skilled in designing and applying evaluation metrics tailored for the medical and pharmaceutical domain, with a strong focus on accuracy and terminology. Experienced in building AI-driven solutions, integrating terminology management tools with AI translation. Passionate about driving innovation at the intersection of language technology and global communication.
