How Voting Works at GALA

Except for student members, every GALA member is entitled to vote in elections, and each member has one vote. Professional members cast their own votes. Company, university, and nonprofit members designate a voting contact who votes on behalf of the organization.

Before every vote or election, GALA reaches out to member organizations to confirm their voting contacts. For a vote to be valid, at least 40% of eligible voting members must participate.

GALA administers votes through a survey platform. Each voter receives a unique link, which allows us to track participation accurately. We also review all votes to check for irregularities.

In this election, each voter selects exactly four different candidates. The four candidates who receive the most votes are elected.

Be an Informed Voter

The people elected to the board will help guide GALA's direction for years to come, so we ask every voter to take the time to make an informed choice. Each candidate has a page where they answer the same set of questions, which makes it easy to compare their views and priorities. Each has also recorded a short video (less than 2 min.) introducing themselves and explaining why they are running.

Please review candidate profile pages before you fill in your ballot, including for candidates whose names you already know. A familiar name tells you little about how someone would serve on the board, and you may find that a candidate you have never met is a strong match for what you want from GALA.
