The GALA webinar series launched in 2007 and has grown to be one of GALA’s most popular programs. Held weekly on Thursdays, webinars give translation and localization professionals a platform to share lessons learned from across the industry. Webinar topics are wide-ranging—from software localization to language technologies, from transcreation to globalization strategies—and are often directed at a specific audience segment such as language service providers (LSPs) or globalization teams in multinational organizations. They are free to attend for all GALA members and the session recordings are available online after the webinar is over.
Attending webinars is a great way to acquire new knowledge, gather industry perspectives on key topics and learn about trends. In 2017, 59% of GALA members registered for at least one webinar (often more) and an additional 184 non-member organizations registered as well, demonstrating broad reach. GALA carefully vets proposals and speakers, and cultivates a program that addresses the concerns and challenges of today’s translation and localization professionals. Many GALA members indicate that webinars are the primary reason they join the association.
