WAGO Localizes RedDot-based Web Site using Across Systems Technology
Fast creation of online content in multiple languages achieved through integration of Open Text Web Solution with Across Language Server
GLENDALE, Calif. and KARLSBAD, Germany (Mar. 16, 2009) – In order to efficiently translate and update its multilingual Web site created using RedDot, WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG uses the Across Language Server.. Across has collaborated with its partner and RedDot specialist, lindner software & consulting GmbH, which has developed a plugin called crossDOT, to ensure an efficient interaction between Across Language Server and the content management system of RedDot, recently rebranded as the Open Text Web Solutions Group.
Today, Web pages serve as a central communication channel for companies of all types, and WAGO® is no exception. The global specialist for electrical interconnections and automation technology uses its Web site to specifically address customers and prospects. In order to minimize a workload caused by frequent updating of multi-language Web site content, WAGO introduced the Across Language Server.
As the central platform for all corporate language resources and translation processes, the Across Language Server ensures consistent content in 16 languages and 28 language variants for WAGO. Frequent updates of Web content – about 50 Web pages are updated at WAGO monthly – can be carried out in all languages almost simultaneously. By means of the crossDot interface, users can access the language data stored in Across directly from the Web content management system. Minor changes are edited directly in the corresponding foreign language versions of the Web page without leaving Open Text, powered by RedDot, at the same time the terminology system and translation memory are used in Across.
Alternatively, large translation jobs, such as those resulting from launching a new Web site, can be initiated through crossDot and completely passed to the Across Language Server. From Across, the jobs are delegated to individual translators for processing. The content to be translated, as well as information on target languages and deadlines, are directly passed to the Across Language Server and are available to translators immediately without any manual intervention. In accordance with defined workflows, the translations are processed via the Language Server and subsequently returned to Open Text, making them available for publication on the respective Web page.
Thanks to the seamless integration of the two applications, the editor or project manager at WAGO can access the Across Language Server directly from within the Web content management system. Regardless of whether the translation is done directly in RedDot or in the translation environment of the Language Server, the integration of both products ensures maximum data consistency, seamless processes, and reuse of existing translations. This leads to higher quality of foreign language versions, as well as shortens processing time and reduces localization costs.
