Enrollment now open for upcoming Localization Certification Programs
Seattle, WA (12 November 2008) - The fourth annual Localization Certification Program and Localization Project Management Certification will be offered in new locations in 2009, beginning with Cologne, Germany and San Francisco, USA. The course is offered through California State University, Chico, Center for Regional and Continuing Education, the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), and The Localization Institute.
The Localization Certification Program will be offered at the San Francisco State University downtown campus, San Francisco, USA, March 23 - March 25, and will be followed by the Localization Project Management course from March 26 - March 27.
In Europe, the Localization Certification Program will be offered at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule Köln), Cologne, Germany, May 11 - May 13, followed by the Localization Project Management course from May 14 - May 15.
The Localization Certification Program was developed to answer a need for trained localization professionals. It has evolved to include project management certification, recognizing that organizational structure and discipline are necessary skills in any localization project. More than 300 professionals have now received localization certification through the program.
The faculty teaching the courses is well known for their deep knowledge in the localization field-Angelika Zerfass (Zaac), Bob Donaldson (McElroy Translation) and Martin Guttinger (Cisco), along with guest speakers from the industry.
"Going global is increasingly important in today's tough business environment, and communicating locally is an essential aspect of an effective global campaign," said Nitish Singh, professor of International Business, Saint Louis University John Cook School of Business. "As a result, the localization industry continues to grow rapidly, so there is a real need for qualified and certified professionals who help enterprises communicate locally around the world."
The Localization Certification Program and the Localization Project Management Certification consist of a mix of online coursework leading to an onsite workshop taught by experts. Practitioner-led lectures and lab sessions are also available. The courses culminate with a certification exam.
Individuals who successfully complete the Localization Certification Program will be eligible for 10 American Translators Association (ATA) continuing education credits for the online content and an additional 10 credits for the workshop.
Translators, product marketing managers, Web project managers, business development executives, Web developers and designers, Web application developers, global entrepreneurs, localization professionals, international trade representatives, educators and students in the field are encouraged to take advantage of these certification programs.
