Net-Translators to Host Networking Event in the New York / New Jersey Metro Area in Partnership with GALA

Scheduled for February 26, 2019, localization and translation professionals will be able to network while also learning about current topics in the industry

Thursday, 7 February, 2019

Marlborough, MA – February 12, 2019 – Net-Translators, a leading localization and translation company, specializing in mission critical language services in more than 60 languages, announced today that it will be hosting a networking event in partnership with GALA, a non-profit trade association for the language industry. The event is free of charge and will be held at Finnegan's Irish Pub in Hoboken, New Jersey on February 26, 2019, from 6-9 pm. The private meeting room features games such as Skeeball, darts and pool and Net-Translators is sponsoring light refreshments and drinks. Space is limited. For additional information and to register, please visit https://www.gala-global.org/all-events/nyc-area-networking-event-2019.

The focus of the event is to build a sense of community, share experiences, network with others and learn about current topics in the industry. Two professionals in the industry will give short talks: Carolina Escalona of Verizon Wireless will share how she’s building a localization department at a mature company. Carolina has over 20 years of language industry experience ranging from her original role as a freelance translator and interpreter to senior positions, such as Global Project Manager at Bowne Global Solutions/Lionbridge and thebigword, Business Implementation Director at RR Donnelley, and Director of Transcreation for the Americas at Hogarth Worldwide. In her current position at Verizon, Carolina has established and now leads the Language Services Department.

David Sommer, Director of Strategic Operations for Net-Translators, will speak about the in-country review process. At Net-Translators, David has been involved in localization for the past 15 years holding multiple roles since joining first as a Localization Project Manager. David participates in almost all of Net-Translators operational aspects, but mostly enjoys the business development side, as this offers the widest exposure to the future of the industry.

David Sommer notes, “As a proud member of GALA, we’re pleased to co-host our third networking event in the U.S. We’ve had great success with our previous events, and we’re looking forward to a great crowd for this event.” He adds, “For over 17 years, GALA has brought translation, localization, internationalization and globalization companies and professionals together. These networking events are a great way to build community and share experiences. We hope to see you there.”

All are welcome to attend; you do not need to be a GALA member.
