Localization World and KantanMT Announce Charity Hike
KantanMT is pleased to announce the launch of a charity hike organised in conjunction with the Localization World Conference, a leading conference for international business, translation, localization and global website management which is being held at the Dublin Convention Centre from 4th-6th June.
The ‘Mountain Flag Challenge’ which takes place on Saturday 7th June hopes to see a group of localization professionals bring their company flags to the top of Djouce Mountain in Co. Wicklow. Organised by Localization World and Dublin based technology start-up KantanMT, the event seeks to raise a minimum of €10,000 for ‘Caring for Padraig’ - a group established to manage donations for Padraig Schäler, son of well-known localization industry researcher and professional Reinhard Schäler.
The Mountain Flag Challenge is a 13km trek to the top of Djouce and back. On top of Djouce, hikers will experience beautiful panoramas of the surrounding moorlands and enjoy views of Lough Tay, Wicklow Way, Powerscourt Waterfall and Sugarloaf Mountain. While challenging, the route is manageable for most fitness levels and can be completed in less than 5 hours. A relaxed barbeque has been organised for all participants following the event; this and private transport will be provided by the organisers.
Corporate teams of up to four persons are asked to donate €1,000 to take part in the event and individuals are asked to raise a minimum of €150. MemoQ, Alchemy Software Development, Medialocate, the CNGL Centre for Global Intelligent Content, welocalize and Vistatec have already signed up for the event and many more have registered an interest.
Multilingual Magazine will publish a full page ad in their September issue which will include a photo as well as all participating companies listed with live links to their websites in the digital edition. Participating companies will also receive an announcement at the Localization World Conference.
Registration for the event is open to any company and individual. Please find details on the event website: www.mountain-flag-challenge.com
About Padraig Schäler:
Pádraig Schäler was knocked off his bicycle as he cycled to work on Cape Cod on Thursday, 27 June 2013, at 10am. He spent over 6 months in a coma following the accident. After a few weeks in Cape Cod Hospital, his family brought him home to Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital. Four months later, they decided to move him to a dedicated early neuro-rehab facility in Hamburg, Germany. The family have had to cover very significant expenses since the accident happened. His air ambulance flight to Germany alone cost 12,000 euro and had to be paid for by them.
‘Caring for Padraig’ is a special committee has been set up to coordinate the fundraising efforts and to administer any funds raised. This committee is independent of Padraig's family and are fully accountable as to how money raised is spent. More information can be found on the Caring for Padraig website: www.caringforpadraig.org.
