After an intensive training course in the SCHEMA Group's Nuremberg Training Centre, KERN Global Language Services has the honour of being a "ST4-certified translation provider". At the heart of the event was the use of the ST4 interface for the exporting of translation-orientated documents from the editorial system SCHEMA ST4.

Frankfurt am Main. For many years, KERN Global Language Services has been supporting their customers in the introduction and optimisation of translation processes with linked Content Management and editorial systems. It advises each of its clients on interface issues and designs customer-specific translation processes, which include multilingual quality controls. In order to consolidate the knowledge about the interface between the editorial system SCHEMA ST4 and the Translation Memory systems Across and SDL Trados, KERN Global Language Services took part in SCHEMA Consulting's training course "SCHEMA ST4 Translation Management" in June.

The translation provider, whose head office is in Frankfurt am Main, successfully completed the course and as a result also completed the "ST4 Certificate for Certified Translation Providers".

The following topics were covered in the Nuremberg Training Centre:

  • Introduction to the translation interface of ST4 DocuManager
  • Analysis of the translation report
  • Using filters
  • Image translation with SVG and EPS
  • Linking to Translation Memory systems (Across, SDL Trados)
  • Export into standard formats (XML und RTF)
  • Potential sources of error and troubleshooting

The knowledge that has been acquired does not just benefit the participants and their companies – ultimately the customer, who appreciates professional and high-quality translations, will benefit.
