KantanLQR Now Supports QTLaunchPad’s Multidimensional Quality Metrics Framework
KantanLQR now supports the MQM framework developed under the QTLaunchPad European Commission research initiative
KantanMT is pleased to announce that its online Language Quality Review tool, KantanLQR™ now supports the industry recognised Multidimensional Quality Metrics (MQM) framework, which was developed by QTLaunchPad, a European Commission-funded collaborative research initiative 2012-2014. Project Managers will now be able to leverage both quick, high-level, ‘holistic’ evaluations that focus on entire texts and detailed ‘analytic’ evaluations that identify specific translation problems when using the KantanLQR online review tool.
KantanLQR™ incorporates a range of standard Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which reflect the relevant MQM error typology, enabling Project Managers to identify translation quality issues and in turn improve their KantanMT engines.
MQM is a framework for describing translation quality metrics in a consistent and coherent fashion and tying metrics to the translation project’s requirements. MQM categories can be used on their own or in conjunction with existing KantanLQR™ KPIs. Additionally, Project Managers can create new customised KPIs that are specific to a project, team or company. Benefits of MQM in KantanLQR™ include:
- Greater flexibility when evaluating translation quality
- Customisable KPIs specific to projects or teams
- Easily combine industry standard holistic and analytics evaluation techniques
KantanLQR™ is an online quality estimation tool that provides a post-editing environment, which is designed for Project Managers and Reviewers. It is a fully distributed process that automates and formalises the evaluation of translation quality from Custom KantanMT engines. KantanLQR™ is dedicated to making human evaluation of CMT faster, seamless and more efficient by dramatically reducing the time to build Custom Machine Translation engines.
“With the introduction of the MQM categories, KantanLQR™ offers the opportunity of an in-depth Human Evaluation,” says Laura Casanellas, Product Manager at KantanMT. “This can be very useful for users who want to highly customise their engines, as well as for academics and researchers focusing on MT output and post-editing effort.”
QTLaunchPad was a European Commission-funded collaborative research initiative (2012-2014) dedicated to preparing the ground for a new type of systematic research and cooperation between MT developers and language industry MT users for managing quality in machine and human translation technologies.
