GALA and InterpretAmerica Form Partnership

Seattle, WA (USA) – The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) and InterpretAmerica LLC today announced a partnership to focus on the interpreting sector at GALA’s annual conference in Istanbul, Turkey, 23-26 March 2014. This collaboration brings new visibility to global interpreting practice and technology, a vital part of the full language enterprise, which encompasses translation, interpreting, localization, transcreation, and more.

Dubbed think! Interpreting – part of GALA’s new think! series of events focusing on regional and sector-specific issues – the partnership is embodied in a distinct program channel at GALA 2014 Istanbul. The new programmingis based on the quality professional development established by InterpretAmerica’s annual summits. In addition, interpreting-specific topics will be integrated throughout the GALA conference, already recognized as one of the industry’s premier learning and networking events.

Of the partnership, Barry Slaughter Olsen, Co-President of InterpretAmerica, said, “The value we offer to the interpreting profession is based on our willingness to explore new avenues of collaboration, new technologies, and new ways of helping the world communicate. That’s why we’ve partnered with GALA, the leading language-industry trade association, to place interpreting more prominently on the industry’s agenda and on the minds of its leaders.”

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with InterpretAmerica to highlight interpreting in this way,” said Hans Fenstermacher, CEO of GALA. “Increasing the prominence and value of all language services is a top goal for GALA.”
