Geographically Diverse Board Represents Growing GALA Membership

Seattle, Washington, USA (21 October 2008) - Members of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) have chosen new board members for the 2009-10 GALA Board.  The three new members, who were elected from a pool of established industry professionals, were announced last week at the language services and technology association's meeting at Localization World, Madison.

The newly elected board members are:
Robinson Kelly, Clay Tablet Technologies (Canada)
Serge Gladkoff, Logrus International (Russia)
Dimitri Stoquart, Stoquart SA (Belgium)

They join the three continuing board members: Matthias Caesar (Locatech, Germany), María Gabriela Morales (Rosario Traducciones y Servicios, Argentina) and Michael Sank (TransPerfect, USA) who are currently in the middle of their terms on the board.  The current Board Chair, Kim Harris (text & form GmbH, Germany), as well as board member Arancha Caballero (TSG, Spain) will be finishing their terms at the end of 2008.

The new board will preside over a growing GALA membership-in six years the association has grown from its original 15 member companies to 280.  Additionally, the board will work with GALA's newly appointed executive director, Jim Hollan, a first for the association.

"This GALA board embodies the diversity within our membership," said Hollan.  "Our board members represent both large and small language service providers, as well as tools and technology providers.  They are also geographically dispersed, just like our member companies-I am looking forward to working with them as we tackle our goals laid out in the 2010 plan."

The comprehensive GALA 2010 Plan was adopted in late 2007.  In 2008, the association began implementing the plan by increasing visibility, developing more resources for members and creating a management structure.  The new board will continue to use the 2010 Plan as a guide in providing services to members.

The new board members are veterans in the language services and technology industry:

Robinson Kelly
Kelly is the CEO of Clay Tablet Technologies.  In that capacity he works with companies from every aspect of the localization industry, forming strong bonds with technology companies, service providers, analysts, media and governmental agencies.

Serge Gladkoff
Gladkoff is co-founder and co-owner of Logrus International Corporation.  For the past two years he has served as Chair of the GALA Standards Committee, driving the initiative to uncover benefits for GALA members through sharing business information.

Dimitri Stoquart
In 1991, Dimitri Stoquart founded Stoquart SA and has built it into a well-established translation and localization company.  Two years ago, he co-founded and became one of the CEOs of the LETS Communicate European Economic Interest group of translation companies.

The end of this year will also mark the completion of board terms served by Kim Harris of text & form GmbH (Germany), who was Board Chair in 2008, and Arancha Caballero of TSG (Spain), who served on the GALA Board for a total of four years.  Their volunteer service to GALA will be remembered for the strategic development and growth of GALA, the hiring of GALA's first executive director and the growth of regional programs, especially in Europe.
