GALA Extends Webinar Series to Include Premium Content

Jost Zetzsche to Host First Premium GALA Webinar This Year on 8 March

Thursday, 1 March, 2012

The Globalization and Localization Association will enhance its successful GALA Webinar Series with a new premium level of training from industry experts.  The first premium webinar of 2012, a comprehensive overview of today’s translation technologies, will take place on Thursday, 8 March, at 10:00 EST and will feature Jost Zetzsche, a widely published author on the technical aspects of translation.

Premium GALA webinars offer an opportunity to go into depth on focused topics.  These sessions are two hours in length, and content is delivered in an engaging way with participant interaction.  Presenters are expected to provide practical tools and strategies that can be immediately applied.  The cost for these sessions is $125 for individuals from GALA member companies and $250 for non-members.

GALA’s Webinar Series began in 2008 as a way to help members educate their staff and connect with industry tools, technology, ideas and discussions in a sales-free environment.  The program grew in 2011, when GALA hosted more than 30 webinars attended by almost 1,000 participants.  In the first two months of 2012, over 300 people have already participated in the webinar series, an increase of nearly 60 percent more attendees from the same time one year ago.

“GALA webinars are really common sense!” said Kåre Lindahl, President of Venga Localization, who has presented and attended many GALA webinars.  “GALA has always delivered information on current industry trends and issues, and with their webinar series they are able to give you a clear understanding of a current topic or tool…it is a great return on your time investment.”

In addition to the new premium webinars, GALA’s series also includes one-hour expert presentations, advanced tool training sessions, and sponsored tool demonstrations, which are offered at no cost to GALA members.  Members can calculate the business value of the webinars, as well as overall value of GALA membership, using the association’s ROI Calculator.

In the two-hour 8 March session entitled “Translation Technology: Same Old, Same Old?”, Zetzsche will question the accepted model of translation technology and discuss a new model in which translation memory converges with machine translation and terminology management gets a makeover.  More information is available on the GALA website.
