GALA Announces Strategic Framework

Association priorities and updated mission approved by member companies

Monday, 27 August, 2012

The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) is pleased to announce publication of its Strategic Framework, affirming GALA’s priorities and the association’s updated mission statement.  The framework outlines core GALA values and pillars guiding the association’s activities and services for member companies and the language industry.

Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Globalization and Localization Association has become a global leader and important resource for the translation industry, serving member companies with valuable programming, community engagement and effective organization.  The newly-published strategic framework is an important step in expanding the depth and breadth of the association’s impact on the industry.

GALA’s framework articulates objectives and priorities for the association that are intended to guide monitoring and measurement of programs as it enters its second decade.  The association has announced its updated mission statement as the following:  GALA supports its members and the language industry by creating communities, championing standards, sharing knowledge, and advancing technology.

Membership in GALA has grown consistently over the past two years to over 320 companies in 50 countries.  Currently the GALA membership consists primarily of localization and translation service providers, though membership composition is becoming more diverse through the new affiliate membership level designed for companies purchasing and managing localization.

The Strategic Framework was presented to the GALA membership and approved by a majority vote in July.
