GALA Announces Departure of Executive Director Laura Brandon
Seattle, WA (USA) - The Board of Directors announced today that Laura Brandon will step down from her role as Executive Director of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) at the end of May. Laura will be succeeded by long-time Programs Director Allison Ferch.
“We thank Laura for her incredible service to GALA for the last 14 years. She has been a critical factor in GALA’s success and she has helped develop the association into the stable and well-respected organization that it is today,” said Klaus Fleischmann, GALA Board Chairman. “Laura’s contributions have made a lasting impression and GALA is in great shape.”
Laura started as GALA’s first employee in 2004 when the association was newly-established and working to serve the needs of the language service provider community. Her role evolved in lock-step with the association, and her stewardship, dedication, and work-ethic helped GALA grow into its present state: 400+ worldwide members representing all facets of the translation and localization industry and offering a host of programs and resources that support member growth and development.
“GALA has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally,” said Brandon. “I am grateful to the numerous members, dedicated volunteers, and tireless staff who have worked together to bring GALA’s mission and vision to life. Without a doubt, the highlight of my time at GALA has been the incredible industry friends and partners I have grown to know from around the world.”
After careful consideration of all options, the Board of Directors has chosen to appoint Allison Ferch as GALA’s next Executive Director. Allison’s eight years of leadership and program management at GALA give her the right balance of experience, skills, and attributes to lead the association into its next chapter. The Board looks forward to working together to continue delivering value to GALA members and the industry at large.
The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) is a global, non-profit trade association for the language industry. As a membership organization, GALA supports member companies and the language sector by creating communities, championing standards, sharing knowledge, and advancing technology.
