Seattle, Washington, USA (13 August 2012) –The Globalization and Localization Association announces that its next Language of Business conference  will be held 17-20 March 2013 at Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel in Miami Beach, USA.

The international non-profit association has issued its call for papers and will accept proposals through 14 September 2012. For more information or to submit a proposal, please see the GALA 2013 Call for Papers.

Each year GALA assembles a talented team of language and localization professionals from the vendor and buyer side of global content delivery to develop the programming for the annual event. Led by chair Joseph Gomes, Managing Director of Viva Translations in Portugal, the participants of this year’s program committee are as follows:

Terena Bell, CEO, In Every Language

Fabiano Cid, Managing Director, Ccaps

Jörgen Danielsen, Managing Director, Eule Lokalisierung GmbH

Joseph Gomes, Managing Director, Viva Translations

Catherine Guinon, Manager, Localization and Digital Content, Amway Corporation

GALA 2013 will provide a collaborative environment for the industry’s thought-leaders and influencers to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the language industry. Language of Business conferences attract leaders from all sectors of the language services industry: language services vendors, technology developers and professionals managing global content for corporate entities. Nearly two-thirds of the attendees at past GALA conferences have been top executives at their companies, making GALA conferences an important gathering place for decision-makers and entrepreneurs.

Feedback from the GALA 2012 conference, which was held this past March in Monaco, was overwhelmingly positive.  In a survey conducted after the conference, 95 percent of participants reported that they were satisfied or extremely satisfied with the conference.  Eighty-four percent said they learned new concepts or strategies and 77 percent reported making contacts at GALA 2012 that may generate new business for them. As summed up by Stefan Gentz of TRACOM in Germany: “The GALA 2012 Conference in Monaco was one of the best language industry events I have ever attended in my 15+ years career.”

The conference returns to North America for the first time since 2009. Miami offers a truly multicultural locale that is easily accessible for participants worldwide via Miami International Airport. With its proximity to Latin America, it represents a bridge between cultures and markets and acts as a gateway to some of the fastest growing economies in the world. The conference hotel, the iconic Eden Roc, is in the heart of Miami Beach and is close to many of Miami’s tourist attractions.

“We’re committed to continuing the GALA tradition with our event in Miami Beach, providing a welcoming, open environment where industry leaders can connect and collaborate – all in a beautiful location. We strive to provide exceptional learning and networking experiences for participants from throughout the industry,” said Laura Brandon, Managing Director of GALA. “GALA 2013 will be all about energy, vision, leadership, community, and of course a healthy dose of fun as well.”

More information on GALA 2013 can be found on the GALA website. The Call for Papers is open until 14 September 2012.
