GALA 2009 Sneak Preview Slated for 07 July

GALA Leaders and Special Guests Offer Webinar to Highlight Importance of the GALA 2009 Conference: The Language of Business. The Business of Language.

Seattle, Washington, USA (24 June 2009) - Why is the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) holding a new conference this September?  What is the long range plan for this new event and what will make it different than all the other events currently in the mix? Learn the answers to these questions and many more at the GALA 2009 Sneak Preview Webinar, Tuesday 07 July 2009.  Two sessions to be held: 10AM EDT (16:00 CEST), and 17:00 PDT (08 July, 8AM China, 9AM Japan).

GALA 2009 will be held 14 - 16 September 2009 at the J.W. Marriott in Cancun, Mexico and will provide GALA members and industry professionals with language technology education, training and networking opportunities unparalleled in the localization and translation industry. To better accommodate our global membership, the webinar will be hosted live at two separate times.

The sneak preview webinar on 07 July will feature GALA leaders talking about the conference, its significance to the industry and to the association's growth.  Participants include James F. Hollan III, GALA Executive Director; Hans Fenstermacher, founding GALA Board Chair and member of the GALA 2009 program committee; Gabriela Morales, GALA Board Member and founding GALA member; Don De Palma, former GALA Board Member and presenter at GALA 2009; and, John Watkins, long-time GALA member and presenter at GALA 2009.

The conference is shaping up to be one of the must-go-to events of the year.  Craig Newmark, founder of Craigslist and one of the world's most influential people on the Web, will keynote the conference.  He will discuss his unique and very successful strategies for effective Internet marketing and customer service. A "State of the Industry" plenary session will feature leaders from ATA, LISA, GALA and other major organizations discussing current and future trends in our industry. The conference will also feature 24 cutting edge workshops ranging from a first-hand presentation on crowdsourcing within the language industry to the latest thoughts on implementing machine translation.
