Eriksen Translations Joins the Fight for Gender Equity
Brooklyn, NY — March 3, 2014, the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW) hosts their annual Fire Starter Awards Dinner, celebrating individuals who have sparked lasting change for gender equity. Vigdis Eriksen, Founder and CEO of Eriksen Translations (www.eriksen.com), and Lisa Garcia Quiroz, Chief Diversity Officer and SVP, Corporate Responsibility, Time Warner Inc., serve as co-chairs of this year's event.
The dinner, held at 583 Park Avenue in New York City, honors fashion designer and activist Norma Kamali, Geri Thomas of Bank of America, Peter Warwick of Thomson Reuters, and Patricia Williams, James L. Dohr Professor of Law at Columbia University. In addition, a special tribute will be given to Ilene Lang, retired President and CEO of Catalyst.
"I am proud to be part of this special evening and support the Council in their work to build a more inclusive, productive, and equitable society," said Vigdis Eriksen, Founder and CEO of Eriksen Translations. "While Eriksen translates language and NCRW translates academic research, we both help people understand one another and know the value of effective communication, including its ability to keep us moving forward."
The Council, a non-profit organization, connects research, policy, and practice to end gender inequity. Simply put, they connect people across sectors to work collectively to shift the way gender is thought about and treated in society. By creating a two-way street to ensure the flow of information from those who conduct research and those who use it, the Council is at the center of their network for sourcing, sharing, and analyzing research.
