E4NET, Successful Conclusion to Two-Year KPA English Translation Project
E4NET has successfully completed a major two-year Korean-to-English translation project that began in 2015 for the Korea Institute of Patent Information (KIPI), thereby proving its competitiveness in the highly technical field of patent translation.
In patent translation, an accurate understanding of complex technical content is critical to success. One notable aspect of this project was that translations required the use of an integrated Korean Patent Abstracts (KPA) management system that is not compatible with other systems. When the fundamental challenge and proposed solution were missing from the original patent abstract, it was necessary to reference the patent specifications and supplement the translation - a challenge that E4NET was well equipped to overcome.
E4NET acquired and managed a wealth of patent translation experts, and devised a specialized localization process that is now an integral part of the KPA management system. Through such efforts, 54,062 Korean patent documents (19,172,179 characters) were translated into English over the past two years, and an abundance of glossaries and patent translation data were assembled in the process. Of special significance, E4NET steadily demonstrated high customer satisfaction over the course of the project.
The KPA English translation project became a legitimate opportunity for E4NET to announce its entry into the patent translation market. With the completion of the two-year project, E4NET has proven its expertise and competitiveness in patent translation and is actively pursuing additional patent projects.
