Diskusija achieves ISO 17100 and ISO 9001 certification
Diskusija, a regional LSP specializing in the languages of the Baltic countries and Central, Eastern and Southeastern European languages, attained ISO 17100:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 certification.
“We are extremely proud to see our company implement two new international standards, which is an outstanding achievement,” says Asta Rusakevičienė, the CEO of Diskusija. “Furthermore, we are the first company in Lithuania that adopted the new translation standard ISO 17100:2015. Equally important for us is the implementation of the quality management standard ISO 9001:2015.”
International Standard ISO 17100:2015 was published in May 2015, and superseded EN 15038 standard and accelerated the standardization of translation services to a higher level. The new standard defines not only the qualification and competences of linguists, but also of project managers; the standard devotes significant attention to continuous professional development of human resources. It also specifies the requirements for technical and technological resources. In addition, the standard defines project management, quality assurance, the process of communication between the customer and the service provider, the process of handling project-related information and requirements for its security.
The world’s most popular international standard for quality management, ISO 9001, has been recently totally revised to address the change in the business world and to ensure that it continues to serve the business community and maintain its relevance in today’s market place. The enhanced role of leadership, the necessity to clearly understand the context of the organization, and risk-based thinking are the most important changes in this standard.
The new version ISO 9001:2015 was published only in October 2015. Diskusija was one of the first companies in Lithuania to implement the new version of this standard.
“Until recently we have been working according to the earlier translation standard EN 15038. We had sufficiently comprehensively defined our work processes, with significant attention to quality management; the implementation of the new standards, however, became an excellent opportunity to review the processes once again, make sure there are no gaps, carry out some self-assessment and assess opportunities and threats, the effectiveness of our risk management, and to define strategy and plans for the company's future”, says Asta Rusakevičienė.
We are delighted to see the involvement of our team in the implementation process with proposals for the improvement of the operations and processes. Joined by the common objective, the team clearly understood the importance of standardisation for the company, and of its final results, which are benefits for the customer.
We are sure that from now on our customers will be happier with our higher quality services, clearer and more straightforward communicating. Our customers have been trusting us for the past 23 years, and now they will have yet another reason to increase their confidence in us.
