OXFORD, England and SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil -- Conversis, a UK-based translation and localization company has announced today the opening of their South American operations branch, in anticipation of serving this rapidly expanding market. In addition, the company has appointed Gislene Robertson as business development manager to lead efforts in South America. Robertson's main responsibilities will include telemarketing and sales efforts for Conversis in South America with additional sales support for the company in North American as well. Headquarters will be in Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

"As Conversis strives to expand its international presence, an office in Brazil will allow us to reach a growing South American market," said Gary Muddyman, CEO and managing director of Conversis. "While we continue to develop our European and North American business, it is important that we tap into the large Spanish and Portuguese speaking market, which has access to more than 2500 international businesses based in South America."

For example, the industrial country of Brazil has a gross domestic product rate growing nearly five percent annually, and the country is a significant exporter of agricultural and industrial products worldwide. Of the top 500 companies, 420 have offices in Brazil.

The Conversis Brazil office will be headed by Robertson, who brings more than five years of industry experience, including a background as a Portuguese language teacher in Brazil. Prior to Conversis, Robertson served as account manager with K International Plc, and was responsible for managing key accounts, increasing profitability and developing new business opportunities within the company. Robertson has also filled the role of project manager where she worked with a multi-cultural team with individuals from over 30 countries.

Robertson graduated with honors from Universidade do Vale do Paraiba in Brazil, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She later attended Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge where she received a master's degree in European Languages and Intercultural Studies.

"As we continue to expand into foreign markets like Brazil, Gislene brings a wealth of knowledge not only about the localization and translation industry but also about the Brazilian market and its culture," said Muddyman. "I am confident that having an office location in Brazil lead by her will help market Conversis on a more global scale and deliver our unique business proposition within this growing marketplace."
