Coastal Flag Challenge Raises Over $6,500 for Translators without Borders
KantanMT, along with co-host LocWorld, raises more than $6,500 in the Coastal Flag Challenge, a fundraising event for Translators without Borders
KantanMT is pleased to announce that the Coastal Flag Challenge, held on 11 June 2016, was a huge success and helped raise over $6,500 for Translators without Borders (TWB), a non-profit organisation that works to close critical language gaps that hinder humanitarian efforts worldwide by supporting the work of hundreds of organisations in the areas of crisis relief, health and education.
The event, which was held right after the LocWorld31 conference, saw more than 40 supporters walk along the wet and challenging terrain along Howth Peninsula and solve puzzles along the way. Organised by KantanMT, Silver Sponsor of TWB, and co-hosted by LocWorld, the Coastal Flag Challenge saw enthusiastic participation from LocWorld, Vistatec, Lionbridge, Sajan, LavaCon, Multilingual Magazine, the Localization Institute, Matrix, Cisco, Riversight, Fideltec, WinTranslations, Ralph Lauren and eBay.
The TWB team also joined the challenge and helped raise awareness of the TWB mission to tackle the language challenges that hinder critical humanitarian efforts worldwide by providing translations to humanitarian non-profits responding to crisis when the responders and those affected, do not speak the same language.
“I am grateful for everyone’s support to Translators without Borders,” said Aimee Ansari, Executive Director at TWB. “These sponsorships are crucial for ensuring our sustainability so we can keep doing the work we are doing and expand it. Your support gives me the confidence to say that the LSPs are behind TWB. Sponsoring the hike certainly demonstrated KantanMT’s elegant, simple leadership. Not only did we raise money for TWB, you also showed others how they can expand their support.”
