Call for Candidates: 2009-2010 GALA Board Positions Open

Thursday, 14 August, 2008

Seattle, Washington, USA (14 August 2009) -- The Globalization and Localization Association is currently accepting candidates for three open positions on the Board of Directors. Individuals from member companies are invited to submit their candidacy by 12 September 2008. The term of office is for two years: 1 January 2009 through 31 December 2010. Candidates should be at the decision-maker level and endorsed by their company.

The GALA Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the association. It has final and complete control over decisions made by the association, including the areas of finance, legal matters, administration, personnel and others. The Board of Directors meets regularly to discuss the association's affairs and to make decisions on its business. Candidates for the board member positions must be able to commit to:

  • Two phone conferences per month (though they may conduct more frequent meetings as deemed necessary).
  • In-person board meetings at least twice a year at an agreed upon time and place.
  • Participation in at least one association committee.
  • Leadership on specific association projects.

Candidate statements and brief biographies will be posted to the GALA website in September.  GALA will submit ballots to GALA member primary contacts at the end of September to elect the three Board members by the majority of votes cast (one vote per member company).

As a worldwide organization, GALA strives to have as broad a geographic representation as possible on the Board and looks forward to welcoming new and dynamic members who are ready to contribute to the shape and direction of GALA. Members interested in running for office should obtain a candidacy form from [email protected] and submit it, along with a photo, to the same email by 12 September 2008.
