Details

This case study presents VMware, Inc., a global leader in virtualization solutions, and their terminology management initiative. The Globalization Program at VMware has recently completed a company-wide terminology consolidation initiative, a cross-departmental project trying to consolidate terminology used by their various departments, country offices and vendors. This consolidation included the implementation of two interconnected terminology management tools. The presentation outlines the historical terminology situation at VMware, steps taken to start the consolidation initiative, departments involved in the work, consolidation stages, building of the terminology database and user base, and the actual implementation of the terminology management infrastructure. It concludes with the challenges VMware faced during the implementation, solutions, and future steps.
