Tony O’Dowd, Founder and Chief Architect of KantanMT.com gives an introduction to KantanMT Analytics, a new technology which has been co-developed with CNGL (Centre for Next Generation Localization) that provides segment level quality analysis for machine translated output. Tony discusses the major developments in machine translation over the last few years with a particular focus on cloud-based MT and quality measurement technologies. He also gives an in-depth presentation of ”˜KantanMT Analytics’, a new technology funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) that KantanMT has co-developed with the CNGL Centre for Global Intelligent Content. KantanMT Analytics measures the quality of the translations generated by KantanMT Machine Translation engines, giving a quality score for each segment. In the past, users of MT have had considerable difficulty in pre-evaluating the quality of their Machine Translated output. This has led to industry confusion with regards to the pricing of post editing and also MT project pricing. Using KantanMT Analytics, users of MT will be able to better predict project turnaround times and offer more accurate pricing to their clients, opening up the possibility to develop new business models based around Machine Translation.
