Presenters Mitch Clark and Sachiyo Demizu tell the story of how they successfully implemented Japanese to English machine translation at Nikon Precision Inc. You will take away lessons for your own business after learning about Nikon’s MT engine selection process, the system’s initial and ongoing evaluation results, the company’s MT user interface, feedback from field users, MT problems in general and those specific to Japanese to English MT, as well the company’s future plans to improve the MT system.

Mitch Clark

Mitch Clark earned his Master’s in Translation from Kent State University. Since then, he has worked as a translator in both Japan and the United States for 8 years. He has been at his current position as a technical translator at Nikon Precision Inc. for almost 3 years.

Sachiyo Demizu

Sachiyo Demizu earned her Master’s in Translation and Interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and has been working in the industry for more than 20 years. Currently, she works as a technical translator at Nikon Precision Inc. She also has a Master’s of Accountancy from the University of Denver, earning her CPA in Colorado.
