Senior Technician

We are looking for a Senior Technician who will be reporting to the Technical Department Director.

IF YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computing or Translation and Interpreting.
  • Solid knowledge of translation/localization.
  • Solid knowledge of CAT Tools / DTP applications and text editors.
  • Solid knowledge of HTML and XML.
  • Knowledge of Python and Visual Basic. Other programming languages will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Machine Translation.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as localization engineer.
  • Ability to work under pressure conditions.
  • Customer oriented – understanding customer’s needs. Ability to recommend the best processes/tools for each project.
  • Innovative spirit and ability to investigate new processes and tools.
  • Planning, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.

LANGUAGES:

  • Spanish.
  • English.
  • Knowledge of other languages will be an advantage.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Windows and Office applications.
  • Knowledge of other platforms, such as Mac, Unix, Linux, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of computer-assisted translation tools (Trados Studio, Memsource, Wordbee, MemoQ).
  • Knowledge of software localization, DTP and graphic design applications, as well as compilation software (for example Madcap Flare), etc. will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of multimedia projects (transcription, audio and video).

ROLES AND RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Technical support for Project Managers and undertaking of tasks requiring advanced, specialized knowledge and techniques.
  • Training: train production and/or sales department in the technical aspects of project management to make them as independent as possible.
  • Consultancy: give advice to PMs, resources and/or sales personnel regarding technical requirements, tools, specific techniques and costs of certain projects to determine the optimum procedures.
  • Technical process and troubleshooting: carry out certain processes related to specific projects, whose technical nature is beyond the abilities of the PMs. Troubleshooting unforeseen technical problems that the PMs are unable to resolve by themselves.
  • Content maintenance: maintain the company’s knowledge pools, glossaries, knowledge base, etc.
  • Support the IT department: support the IT department in certain aspects related to specific software used in the company.
  • Support for resources: advice and technical support for translators and proofreaders with respect to specific projects.
  • R&D: participation in R&D projects on behalf of CPSL.
