Project Manager

We are currently looking to recruit a Project Manager to handle translation projects and oversee the overall progress of multiple projects for big clients. You will be part of a team focusing on providing high-quality translation projects and ensure client retention and satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and monitor translation projects and other projects as needed.
  • Supervise project progress of multiple projects for a big client led by other project managers and report status to management.
  • Lead new-project communication with client and assess new projects
  • Analyse the translation projects (word count, languages, file type etc.) with the help of CAT (computer-aided translation) tools.
  • Source, negotiate and assign various competent language professionals, such as translators, interpreters, technical experts and vendors of various types.
  • Create client costs accurately and in accordance to client rate cards and internal procedures.
  • Monitor to ensure the project does not exceed the agreed budget and company target margins.
  • Disseminate information, issue instructions related to the assignment, and manage the project to all parties involved.
  • Monitor to ensure compliance with agreed upon schedule and deadlines.
  • Proofread and QA-check of translations, as well as perform layout checks and edits on the final documents.
  • Handle client and project-related documentation and administration.
  • Handle high-profile jobs, such as first jobs for new clients and sample projects with limited supervision.
  • Monitor constant conformity to the client agreement, project specifications, and, where necessary, communicate with all parties involved in the project, including the client.
  • Lead regular communication with clients to receive the briefs and information on the projects.
  • Lead effective communication with linguists and colleagues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Liaise with and collaborate with other teams and departments as needed.
  • Manage and handle feedback, as well as support junior colleagues in any such tasks. If necessary, implement corrections and/or corrective action.
  • Mentor other team members or new starters.
  • Guide junior colleagues towards effective client communication and building a positive client relationship.

Skills required

  • Strong oral and written English skills – knowledge of a foreign language is a plus.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • 1 year+ of working experience in project management, preferably in a Language Service Provider company.
  • Proven client facing experience, flexible and adaptable, able to work in a changing environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills. Effective verbal/written communication with clients, suppliers and internal team members is a must for this role.
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, highly organised, able to work to tight deadlines and calm under pressure.
  • Excellent computer literacy including advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Previous use of CAT tools, including Trados Studio, XBench, or other industry-specific applications will be considered a plus.
