Welocalize achieves ISO 14001 Certification to Further Strengthen its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Framework

The seventh ISO certification in the language service provider’s quality portfolio recognizes a commitment to reducing its environmental impact and implementing sustainable practices.

Welocalize, a global leader in the language services industry, has achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification, showcasing its commitment to environmental excellence and sustainability.

ISO 14001 is a globally recognized standard that sets guidelines for environmental management systems (EMS). It requires companies to implement a structured approach to managing their environmental impact and reducing their carbon footprint.

By earning this certification, Welocalize assures its customers and stakeholders that it is taking a proactive approach to managing its environmental impact.

"At Welocalize, we take our responsibility to the environment seriously," says Silvie Peric, Director of Quality Systems and Strategy. "As a primarily cloud-based service provider, we were surprised to find key areas where our company could make more responsible environmental management decisions. We will continue to work towards reducing our carbon footprint and protecting the environment. This certification demonstrates to our employees, clients, and stakeholders that Welocalize places a priority on using resources responsibly and assessing environmental impacts when making business decisions."

To achieve ISO 14001 certification, Welocalize underwent a rigorous evaluation process that assessed its environmental management practices. The certification serves as a recognition of the company's ongoing efforts to improve its environmental performance, reduce waste, and conserve resources.

ESG, a Company-Wide Initiative

"At Welocalize, ESG isn't just a checkbox. We embed it into our strategy and decision-making, recognizing that it's about creating value for everyone involved —from our employees to our investors,” adds Kimberly Payeur, Head of People Success at Welocalize. “We prioritize the environment, focus on social impact, and adhere to strong governance practices."

Further aspects of the company’s ESG framework include community involvement, diversity and inclusion, fair compensation, caring for the welfare and development of the company’s employees, and making a positive difference to communities Welocalize operates in.

ISO 14001 Certification Process and Results

The ISO 14001 certification process involves a comprehensive review of an organization's operations, processes, and procedures to ensure they comply with environmental regulations and best practices and necessitates that companies proactively manage their environmental responsibilities. By identifying risks and opportunities, companies must pledge to enhance resource efficiency, minimize waste, and meticulously evaluate and manage the overall environmental impact of their decisions.

Complete Quality Portfolio

Welocalize’s ISO 14001 certification is the seventh in the language service provider’s quality portfolio. The company also holds ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (Information Security), ISO/IEC 27701:2019 (Data Privacy), ISO 17100:2015 (Translation Services), ISO 13485:2016 (Medical Devices), and ISO 18587:2017 (Human Post-Edited Machine Translation Services) certifications. More recently, the company became one of the first language service providers to certify under the new virtual site ISO model, which certifies cloud-based quality processes and systems instead of locations.

With ISO 14001 certification, Welocalize is leading the way in sustainability within the localization industry. The company remains committed to upholding the highest environmental standards and serving as an example for other businesses to follow.
