GALA’s board of directors is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the association. Association leadership requires bold visionaries and thoughtful advisers. It requires industry experience, blue-sky thinking, and a collaborative approach. It requires an unwavering belief that GALA serves an essential role in the global language industry and that it has a bright future.
If that sounds like you, we invite you to become part of GALA’s global leadership team by running for a position on the Board of Directors.
GALA stands out as a diverse professional community. It is a connector of people, companies, and ideas from a spectrum of markets, locales, and organization types. GALA is a platform where individuals and organizations can learn, share, and inspire one another, no matter where they work.
In November, the GALA membership will elect 4 board members for two-year terms. We invite leaders representing all our member segments – small and large LSPs and interpreting companies, technology firms, universities, heads of client localization teams – to run for the board and provide informed counsel for major strategic decisions and directions.
For those of you whose interest is piqued, but who are worried about the commitment, I encourage you to chat with a current board member to learn about the realities of the role. You’ll find that board leadership is a manageable commitment that pays real dividends including personal and professional growth, increased visibility, professional camaraderie and collaboration, and more than a little bit of fun. If you are a person that is enthusiastic about your professional community and looking for growth opportunities, I encourage you to run for the GALA board.
