Rising Star Scholarship Contest 2019
GALA is delighted to announce the 2019 Rising Star winners!
Scholarship Award and Participation
Each winner is awarded a free registration to GALA’s 2019 Language of Business Conference in Munich from 24-27 March, and a travel stipend. Scholarship applicants wrote essays in response to the following prompt: What should stakeholders in the language industry do to prepare themselves for the machine learning evolution? What will be the role of the humans?
GALA recognizes and awards upcoming talent with the Rising Star Scholarship to attend our annual conference, hosted in Munich in 2019. This scholarship was open to students in localization, translation, and interpreting programs worldwide. This year, we received 39 applications from 32 unique universities in 20 countries.
Submissions were judged by the 2019 Rising Star Selection Committee. GALA would like to extend a special thank you to the committee for their efforts: Ana Sanchez (Lionbridge Technologies, Inc.), Burckhardt Rueffer (BeatBabel), Edith Bendermacher (NetApp), Max Troyer (Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey) and Oleksandr Bondarenko (Translatel).
We also offer a large and heartfelt thank you to the Rising Star Scholarship Sponsors, whose generous contributions to this program and in support of future industry talent is invaluable: BeatBabel and Lionbridge Technologies, Inc.
