Office Rivalry: Employing Coopetition to Raise Performance Among Globally Dispersed Subsidiaries
The consolidation of the language services industry has led companies to become more geographically dispersed. Many find it difficult to balance corporate culture with that of local offices, and subsidiaries must worry about their own processes and balance sheets while achieving corporate goals. The following questions are important to answer: How can single offices effectively focus on their subject matter or language expertise, and what is the role of “headquarters” in the process? When should an office focus on specific language pairs as opposed to general project management? How can subsidiaries work more closely together on common goals? This talk aims to share tools and strategies to use both competition and cooperation in a way that takes full advantage of the strengths of each office while avoiding the inherent redundancy that comes with multiple offices.
