Organization Overview

The Graduate Program in Translation began offering courses as an experimental program in 1970. It was officially established by decision of the University of Puerto Rico Academic Senate in 1972. In 1974, after receiving certification from the University Board of Directors, PGT (for its Spanish acronym) was officially incorporated into the College of Humanities Master’s Degree programs, thus becoming one of the first graduate programs in the field. In the years that followed, the PGT has been expanded to offer a Post-Master’s Specialized Translation Certificate.
