Candidate Background

Sabina is an international marketing leader with more than 10 years' experience in B2B solutions in the translation industry. As the Global Marketing Director at SDL Plc (formerly Donnelley Language Solutions), her focus is on building a strong brand and helping to drive year-on-year, double-digit growth in the rapidly evolving translations market.

Sabina's key strengths include team building and management. She has built an international team of highly skilled marketing and bid management professionals experienced in change management – specifically in acquisitions and post-acquisition integration, developing global and regional marketing strategies, and driving the launch and adoption of translation products and services.

One of Sabina's biggest passions is building communities - that's why she dedicates her time as a member of Gala's 2017-2018 Board of Directors and has recently begun to contribute to Translation Commons. She is also an active member of a grassroots movement in Warsaw, with which she organizes street festivals and patriotic initiatives, campaigning for the preservation of historical monuments and parks throughout the city.

Educated in Poland, France, the UK and the US, Sabina holds an MBA and Master's degrees in French and Polish Law, Romance Philology and Demographic History.

Personal Statement

I am honored to have served as a member of the 2017-2018 GALA Board of Directors and would be proud to be re-elected to continue building long-term value for our members. Over the last 2 years with the Association, I have had the pleasure to meet many incredible members from around the world, and I feel proud to be part of our international family. I became passionate about GALA's mission of building a strong community and sharing knowledge, which are increasingly important in our segmented and rapidly evolving market.

My focus as a member of the GALA Board of Directors in 2019-2020 would be on the following aspects:

GALA's Annual Conference

GALA's Annual Conference is a true celebration of the spirit of our community. In the last 2 years, I was happy to support the organization at the Amsterdam and Boston conferences, and was able to appreciate how enthusiastic all the participants are about the event. I would relish the opportunity to help develop the upcoming GALA Annual Conferences to make sure that we have the best conditions, strong content and an inspiring forum to learn from, share, do business in, and enjoy our time together. GALA's conference is by far my favorite annual industry event and I would like everyone who joins us to feel the same way, no matter if they are newbies, attendees or exhibitors.

Marketing Presence

As a marketing professional with an MBA in social media, I would like to continue contributing to maximize GALA's marketing presence. GALA's website has gone through a true transformation over the last 2 years, and I am a great admirer of our webinar program and the content contributed by our members. At the same time, there is still a lot to do and we need to put more effort on our social media programs, as well as our external communications. I would especially like to encourage member engagement, facilitate idea sharing, and give the community a voice. From a marketing perspective, this would help raise awareness and drive traffic to the Association's website, and for smaller LSPs it would be a great opportunity to promote their business to other companies.

GALA's Involvement in Charitable Causes

I'd like to continue GALA's involvement in community causes, such as Translators without Borders or the Rising Star Scholarship Contest, which are fantastic ways to make a difference in someone's life. Thanks to GALA's leading position, those charitable causes get more visibility and are a great introduction to our community.

GALA's importance in the industry - as well as the collective influence and dynamism of its members - demand active commitment, which I am willing to dedicate to contribute to our Association. I'd like my experience in marketing and passion for building communities to be an asset to GALA members and the Board, and if re-elected, I would put my all into the role.
