Candidate: Marie-Sophie Petit

Marie-Sophie Petit
Technicis Group
Head of Language Technology & Innovation

Candidate Background

After graduating in both French as a Foreign Language and Comparative Literature, I lived in Italy where I taught FFL and managed cultural events for several organizations, including the French Embassy in Rome.

I then moved to the US, where I obtained an MA in Translation in 2005 (KSU) and worked as a freelance translator. In 2006, I eagerly started working as an in-house translator and PM at Lionbridge and SDL.

In 2010, I joined Technicis Technology to design the workflows and processes dealing with the digital transformation of our clients. I had the opportunity to cover most of the aspects of the localization world, from production to pre-sales. This experience led me to become the Language Technology and Innovation Director for Technicis.

In addition to my constant interest in new technologies, I’m keen on stories. I therefore love communicating and sharing knowledge, and turning a dry technological workflow into an easy-to-grasp narrative. To indulge this passion for words, I also work as a proofreader for a French publishing house. The various texts I read, and the perspectives on the world that they offer, nourish my creativity.

Personal Statement

How will you contribute to GALA?

What I like the most about GALA is GALA Connect and the webinars many you can watch or lead.

What GALA programs are you passionate about?

The programs that are in line with my perspective on the Localization World, a world where we need to connect, interact and grow a better business together. There is room for everyone. If I were to join the board, I would be thrilled to work on developing training and eLearning initiatives for LSPs, PMs, translators and clients.

I believe that being a place where you can find solid foundations for starting and pursuing your journey in the localization world is what GALA lacks.

Why are you interested in serving the association as a member of the Board?

The people in the industry need facts, examples and best practices. For example, what do you do when you start using NMT from scratch? What are the steps? What are you supposed to do?

I want to help GALA identify the hottest topics and help spread our industry’s best practices throughout the world. Help me to help you!
