Personal Statement

How will you contribute to GALA?
I have been in this industry for 23 years and have witnessed the wonderful changes in our industry that have positively impacted companies like mine. However, I have also seen how other LSPs have been left behind mainly due to lack of access to education, best practices, new technologies, etc. I would like to contribute to GALA by making all the wonderful things GALA has to offer accessible to everybody; making our organization inclusive rather than exclusive. Also I would continue speaking at the events, including conferences and webinars, and sharing my experience and knowledge.
What GALA programs are you passionate about?
I love the annual conferences. I have been attending for the last five years and it is very exciting to get to know new people as well as seeing old friends; of course the enormous amount of knowledge shared during the conference is my main reason for attending. I also love the webinars; they are very relevant to our current industry needs. Additionally, it is a priority to me to continually learn about the future of our industry; it is a good way to check that I am going in the right direction with my company.
Why are you interested in serving the association as a member of the Board?
I founded U.S. Translation Company 23 years ago and grew the company to be in the INC 5000 list six times as one of the fastest growing companies in America among other multiple awards and recognitions. I enjoy helping others achieve their dreams because I believe in the principal of giving back; additionally I find a lot of joy in helping others. I also would like to help find ways to make GALA resources more accessible to the majority of people in the industry, including educational institutions who are forming the future leaders of our industry. I would like to help organize GALA clubs at universities or partner with existing localization clubs that are already in place to engage students and provide them with more information and knowledge about the resources available to those in the industry. This will also give the students a voice to express their ideas and concerns. We can have GALA members sponsor and mentor schools to encourage and help them to access the wonderful things that GALA has to offer.
