Candidate Background

Claudia Mirza is the CEO and co-founder of Akorbi. Under her leadership, Akorbi has become the most diversified mid-size language service provider in the world with a 758% growth in recent years. Akorbi has become the 6th fastest-growing language company in the U.S. according to Inc 5000 and the 12th largest in the nation according to industry analyst Nimdzi. Claudia’s holistic vision of the language industry focuses on providing multimodal services such as multilingual and technical staffing, multilingual contact centers, localization, telephonic interpretation, video remote services and telehealth. Claudia is a published author in key industry publications, a sought-after speaker, an inventor with patents-pending, a mother of two, a mentor, a philanthropist and a professional horse show rider. She has been honored with countless awards including being invited to the White House to speak on behalf of female business owners. Claudia maintains a true passion for education and is currently enrolled at Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program.

Personal Statement

How will you contribute to GALA?

I am an experienced board member, having served on several different boards over the years, so I understand how to maximize performance and manage a non-profit business. I’m not afraid of hard work and will work hard to get the job done. My management style is fair, but firm. I want to help the people around me succeed. That is what I am passionate about.

I also bring a strong understanding of how to market to a diverse target audience, like the one GALA has. I believe I will be a strong resource and mentor for other LSPs in the industry, to help them grow their businesses. I am passionate about this industry and this community.

What GALA programs are you passionate about?

I am passionate about the yearly conference because it creates a platform for LSPs to interact and network with technology companies to help create synergies and strengthen our industry. I also love the GALA CEO Forum.

Why are you interested in serving the association as a member of the Board?

I feel I have a lot of knowledge and experience that I can share with the language services community. I have successfully taken an LSP from an idea to one of the fastest-growing, women-owned businesses in the World. With this experience and knowledge, I feel like I have a lot to share with others. I am passionate about building global connections, and I love Gala´s business model. I believe I can bring a lot of fresh ideas to the organization, and I would love to be a part of bringing GALA to the next level. I also bring with me training, experience and education from one of the top universities, as well as, board experience on the top women-owned business organizations in the world.
