Request for job descriptions to help with GALA career resources and ESCO occupations project
As GALA prepares to launch its new website later this month, we are curating content and resources for GALA members and our public audiences. A resource that will be useful to both new and seasoned professionals is our industry careers section, which describes career paths and profiles as well as education and training opportunities. Currently, we have a limited list of job titles descriptions, for roles that are common in our industry. We would like to expand and grow this resource and we’re asking for your help.
Meanwhile, GALA has been asked by the European Commission to support its European Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Occupations (ESCO) initiative by collecting job profiles for specific titles from members and industry companies. Who better than working language professionals to provide this information? We think this timing is serendipitous and see an opportunity to meet two needs at the same time. That’s where you come in.
We kindly ask that you share sample job descriptions for any of the following titles – or positions for which you commonly hire, but use a different title. You may submit them by email to <[email protected]>. Company names or other identifying details may be omitted – the important part is to capture the skills, qualifications, and responsibilities of the positions.
For those who prefer a consultative role, ESCO is inviting comments and feedback on job titles and descriptions, beginning 14 October. You may register at this link if you wish to review their data this fall.
