A Path to Greater Value: GALA Dues Increase
As all of you know, it’s necessary from time to time to adjust for rising costs, to make new investments in technology and staffing, and to focus on growing your capacity to better serve your clients. That’s precisely where we find ourselves today, and on 01 July, GALA will raise membership dues for the first time in 10 years. The new rate will be US$ 1250, up from the current rate of US$ 1000.
To be fair to members with membership anniversaries after 01 July, we will offer an opportunity to renew early and pay the current rate. If that applies to your company, you’ll hear from our membership manager, Alicia Deadrick, with more details and instructions.
GALA’s primary mission is to support the growth and development of our members. We do that by providing a non-biased platform for information-sharing and collaboration as well as by building connections between industry stakeholders. We help you keep up with industry trends, best practices, technologies, and standards. We give you a way to promote your services and products, and to develop your talents and professional acumen. We deliver opportunities to grow your network and to be part of a vibrant professional community, and we work to raise the profile of the industry in the broader global business landscape.
We do all of that with a team of 4 full-time staff members, a handful of contractors, and many dedicated volunteers. In order to take our programs to the next level and deliver added value to our members, we need to make investments in technology and human resources. Specifically, we need to invest in workflow and process automation (sound familiar?) and an additional staffing to nurture under-developed programs. This will allow us to focus less on repetitive administrative tasks and more on growing high-value programs that are useful to members.
With additional dues revenues, we intend to raise the standard of our content and publications through paid expert content. We’ll invest in a new association management system which will provide a smoother experience for members and staff. We’ll undertake a website overhaul based on UX best practices and the changing demands of the industry, and we’ll hire that new staff member to focus on events, marketing, and industry PR.
