GALA member diving excursion in October: Seattle cold water scuba diving!
Hello fellow GALA members, For those of you who have not heard, last year, during the GALA conference 2009 in Cancun, there was a small team of conference attendees who organised a trip to Cozumel and to the Cenotes for the ultimate diving experience. We are passionate divers always looking for a wonderful opportunity and lifetime memories. At the GALA conference 2010 in Praha that opportunity was missing (the river Vltava did not look too encouraging) so we skipped it. Now we have another chance that we should not miss! Seattle and the Puget Sound area is world famous for the cold water diving and incredible sea life. I am Xavier Maza, and I like diving. If you like it too, I would like you to join a team of GALA divers and take a day off on Saturday, right after the Localization World conference, and go for a Puget Sound diving experience in cold water. I have contacted a Seattle Scuba Center for them to organise a boat trip. On Saturday, October 9th, they have a boat trip scheduled. It is open to Open Water divers with cold water diving experience (it means with experience using a 7mm or 2 piece 5mm wetsuit). The cost is $95 (+ rental gear if you need any) and there is currently space for SIX divers. It will be for two dives. These dives are not guided dives (there will not be a dive guide in the water with us); each of the three buddy teams will plan and conduct their own dive. There will be a divemaster on the boat to give us a dive site briefing and assist if needed. The boat dives would get us out to see some of the better dive sites in the area, because while from shore we would be able to see many nice sites, the ones that can be reached from boats are even better. Additionally, if there is further interest, and we are not yet too deeply frozen, on Sunday if there are at least two of us interested, we could rent gear again and plan another trip. For anyone who does not have thick wetsuit diving experience, Seattle Scuba can set up an orientation dive at the same cost as the guided dive. We might be able to do this on Saturday, but we need to book in advance. So I would like to find out how many of you are interested and so we can put together a team for this challenging experience in cold water. Memories will last for sure frozen in our minds. I look forward to hear from you! Best regards, Xavier Maza iDISC Information Technologies, S.L.
