2018-2019 GALA Board Elections: Call for Candidates

By: GALA Team, Information

02 October 2017

SEATTLE, WA, USA – Serving as a volunteer board member for GALA is a wonderful way to support an organization that you care about. It is also an excellent opportunity to build your own skills, network, and leadership experience.

This year, three GALA board positions will be open for election. We are seeking enthusiastic advocates for the association who are willing to give of their time and talents. The term of office is two years: 01 January 2018 through 31 December 2019.

As a global organization, we strive for broad representation on the board: all member organizations – regardless of size, location, and company type – are eligible to put forth a candidate.

Candidates should be at the decision-maker level and should have the endorsement of their company. If you would like to run for the board please complete the online form by Wednesday, 11 October. If you have any questions, we invite you to review the FAQs and reach out to [email protected].

Board Member Duties

The GALA Board of Directors is responsible for the overall direction of the association. The group meets regularly to discuss the association's strategy and growth.

During their tenure, board members should be prepared to devote time to GALA-related activities including:

  • A monthly board meeting generally conducted via GoToMeeting (though the board may conduct more frequent meetings as deemed necessary)
  • In-person annual board meeting in connection with the GALA annual conference (March)
  • Two other face-to-face meetings, one during June/July, and the other in October/November
  • Regular calls with member companies (approx. two/month)
  • Leadership on specific association initiatives

Candidate statements and brief biographies will be posted to the GALA website in October. We will distribute a ballot to the voting contact at each GALA member company (one ballot per member organization). The voting contact will cast votes for three different board member candidates. The three candidates with the majority of the votes will be elected.
