Tunde Adegbola is a research scientist, consulting engineer and culture activist working in the areas of information and communication media systems as well as Human Language Technology (HLT). His research work focuses on computational tonology, within which he adapts language technologies to accommodate the tonality of African languages. He also works in localization for Nigerian languages including Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.

Emre Akkas is a language technologies expert with years of experience in global outreach and multilingual publishing, and a passion for business and entrepreneurship. After working at many different language companies and finally at Intel Corporation, he co-founded Globalme in 2009. At Globalme, he oversees technical operations and leads the research and development efforts to increase efficiency in localization through automation.

Diego started learning languages when he was 8, English first, then German, and after some years, French. However, in college he studied Electrical Engineering (an MSc and a PhD) and Management and Business Administration. In 2007, his passion for languages and his technical skills converged in tauyou , a technical company specialized in machine translation, natural processing tools, and process automation for the localization industry. He currently serves on the GALA Board.

Terena Bell is the current GALA Board secretary and former member of the Leadership Council at Association of Language Companies (ALC). She writes a column on industry macro-trends for MultiLingual Magazine and serves on the White House Business Roundtable. During her studies, Jennifer gained experience with machine translation when she started working for IBM Germany. After two years of research and development for an MT system, she started working as a user of MT at SAP AG, Germany. There she acquired profound knowledge not just in setting up an MT system, maintaining MT lexicons, and post-editing, but also in translation memory systems, workflow integration, and exchange formats.

Chris has been studying languages and linguistics since he was 12 years old. After a career as a union stage manager in opera, he returned to his passion and joined aLanguageBank. He has also extensively studied psychometrics for language testing. Jeremy Coombs joined MultiLing in 1999 and currently manages large-scale translation and localization projects for well-known international companies. Coombs helped develop MultiLing's Fortis translation memory system, the Semantis terminology management system and the GoldenEye project tracking/workflow system. He received a bachelor's degree in linguistics with an emphasis on computer science and Scandinavian studies from Brigham Young University. He is fluent in Finnish and Swedish.

Stephen Doherty, BA, HDip, PhD, MBPsS, is a post-doctoral researcher in the Centre for Next Generation Localisation in Dublin City University. He conducts research on topics of language and cognition, human-computer interaction, machine translation, and translation technologies. He is currently working on QTLaunchPad, a collaborative European research initiative dedicated to overcoming barriers in machine translation and language technologies.

She received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2007.

Lori Thicke is the founder of the machine translation services firm LexWorks. She is also the co-founder of Translators without Borders, the world's largest community of humanitarian translators. As a US-based non-profit, Translators without Borders supports global aid organizations by donating millions of words of professional translations each year. Lori earned an MFA from the University of British Columbia and is a frequent speaker and blogger.
