Localization Professionals Converge in Seattle October
GALA
Competition Takes a Back Seat to Collaboration
Seattle,
Washington, USA -- All of the major players in the world of
translation and localization will be arriving in Seattle for what is
predicting to be the most well-attended Localization World Conference yet.
Bell Harbor will see 400+ translation tools, service providers and clients
from over 100 companies and 22 countries who are gathering to harness the
latest the industry has to offer.
More and more US companies are
finding the need to localize in order to join the emerging global economy;
therefore, language translation tools and services have become a must.
Local Seattle companies like Microsoft, Getty Images and Portland based
Tektronix will be among some of the clients in attendance who are
currently employing modern day localization services in their global
business strategies.
The conference, produced in cooperation with
GALA, the Globalization and Localization Association, offers sessions
about new business methods and practices that are applicable for anyone
involved in localization.
"Localization World does a great job of
creating a forum and setting a tone for collaboration," insists Joe
DiDamo, translation service provider Moravia Worldwide's VP of Global
Business Services. Moravia, a GALA member company, is one of the premier
vendors providing translation services to Seattle companies like Microsoft.
By
coming together to discuss issues such as industry and pricing standards
and new tools and technologies, these companies hope to strengthen the
level of quality and service they are providing their current clients and
in turn, galvanize the message they are sending to potential clients about
the need to localize. Seattle-based translation tools provider Sinometrics
is eager to collaborate with like-minded companies from around the globe.
"It's
about sharing tools, processes, ideas for marketing and additional revenue
sources," states GALA member and Sinometrics CEO, Rick Myers. "I'm not
interested in learning how to compete locally or with the large corporate
giants. I want to know what companies away from home like Sinometrics are
doing to become more profitable."
The idea of collaboration is
crucial to such a burgeoning industry. Localization tools and service
providers are determined to teach American companies the importance of
globalizing their marketing efforts and translating their product
messaging.
"Imagine if you bought a Toyota or BMW and your owner's
manual was in Japanese or German," stated localization consultant Renato
Beninatto of Common Sense Advisory. "This is an example of what American
companies often try to do when they enter international markets."
Prior
to the conference on October 25, GALA will be holding its annual member
meeting. GALA is also hosting a special vendor collaboration seminar at
the LW conference. In this interactive session, a panel of GALA members
will share ideas and strategize on how small companies can work together
to create large-scale solutions.
