Globalization and Localization Association Announces Final Board Member

GALA

Seattle, Washington, USA -- The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) has announced the result of the special election held for the final 2008-09 GALA Board Member. The new member, Michael Sank of TransPerfect will join recently elected Board members ­- Peter Reynolds (Idiom Technologies, Inc., USA), Gabriela Morales (Rosario Traducciones y Servicios, Argentina) and Matthias Caesar (Locatech, Germany).

Current Board members Kim Harris (text & form, Germany) and Arancha Caballero (TSG, Spain) will continue to serve their terms through the end of 2008. The current Board and incoming members have already begun working on the transition, which will officially take place on January 1, 2008.

As Vice President of Corporate Strategy for TransPerfect, Sank has an extensive mergers and acquisitions record. Sank has also contributed to the integration, retention of staff, growth, and overall success of TransPerfect merger partners.

The end of this year will also mark the completion of two-year board terms served by Stephen Ryan of Moravia Worldwide (Czech Republic), who was Board Chairman in his final year, and Christine Bernier of Lionbridge Technologies (USA), who served as Board Treasurer. Their tenures will be remembered for the relentless pursuit of organizational and strategic development of GALA. They oversaw the development of long-term planning goals, association messaging and, most recently, the comprehensive 2010 Plan, designed to guide association activities and growth for the next three years.
